On October 16, Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia conducted a workshop entitled “Prospects for Armenia’s Public Diplomacy”. It started with the welcoming remarks of Ambassador Vahe Gabrielyan, Director of the Diplomatic School of Armenia, and Mr Hao-Binh Adjemian, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the European Union Delegation to Armenia.

The speakers of the workshop were Elizabeth Galvez - lecturer in Public Diplomacy for DiploFoundation in Malta and Geneva, and a former British diplomat, Dr Gerlinde Manz-Christ - Independent Communications Consultant, lecturer in Public Diplomacy at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and Lecturer at the MCI Management Center Innsbruck and a former Austrian diplomat, Dr Tigran Balayan - Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Dr Arman Khachatryan- Chief Executive Officer of the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia, and Vasken Kalayjian - Chief Executive Officer of  “GK Brand Inc.”.

The workshop aimed at discussing, at an expert level, of the role of public diplomacy as one of the key functions of diplomacy, the development of its current trends and, in light of the experience of other countries, at reflecting on the implementation of appropriate strategies and methods by the Republic of Armenia. It also aimed at the formulating of new ideas and methods for the creation of a national brand for Armenia. The speaker’s presentation was followed by question and answers and a discussion.

The workshop was organized with the support of European Union Delegation to Armenia and was attended by diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RA, Heads of Foreign Relations Departments of various government agencies and representatives from universities, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, as well as individual experts.
