06.03.2017 • The launch of the 2017 mid-career training programme

On March 6th, the 2017 “Mid-career training program for diplomats and employee of departments of international affairs at public agencies” was launched at the Diplomatic School. The lectures are delivered by high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other respective government agencies, as well as by leading lecturers and trainers from Armenian and foreign educational institutions. The annual two-month certificate program runs for the fourth time. It is aimed at updating the participants’ knowledge on the Armenian foreign policy agenda, as well as developing certain professional practical skills.   The first class of the course , “The activity of Armenian Church: challenges and realities” delivered by Voskan Archbishop Galpakyan from the Mother See of Holy Echmiatsin .  

13.02.2017 • Diplomatic Oath Ceremony

On January 13th, an oath ceremony was held for the graduates of 2015 International Relations and Diplomacy course of the Diplomatic School of Armenia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 10 young diplomats took the oath of the diplomatic service and joined the service.

15.01.2017 • New publications of the Diplomatic School

The Diplomatic School of Armenia, in cooperation with the respective departments of the MFA of RA, published two CDs of legal acts regulating diplomatic and consular services:  “Collection of Legal Documents Regulating the Consular Sector” and “Collection of Legal Documents Regulating the Diplomatic Sector”. The “Collection of Legal Documents Regulating the Consular Sector” is published for the second time and comes out within the scope of the “Consular Activities” training programme for diplomats. The second edition has thus reflected the relevant changes in the legislation of the past two years. The “Collection of Legal Documents Regulating Diplomatic Sector” was published for the first time. The CDs include international conventions and agreements, state laws and codes of the RA, decrees of the President of the RA, decisions of the Government of the RA and legal acts by the MFA of the RA.

06.12.2016 • Meeting of the Diplomatic School Alumni

On December 6th , the Diplomatic School organised a meeting of the alumni of all past promotions of the Diplomacy & International Relations Programme and the Mid-career Training programme of the School, held at the main exhibition hall of the House of the Artists' Union of Armenia in Yerevan. The Director of the Diplomatic School, Ambassador Vahe Gabrielyan higlighted the importance of the training offered by the School both for the Diplomatic Service of Armenia and for the general educational landscape in the country. “Continuing post-training cooperation among our alumni is not only a sign of the School’s success in accomplishing its mission; it also further strengthens the public sector in the country”.  Representing the sponsor of the event, the Head of Delegation of the European Union, Ambassador Piotr Switalski underpinned the importance of the Diplomatic School. 03.11.2016 • Conference on National Security Issues at the Armenian-Russian University

An international forum on “National Security Issues under the Conditions of Globalization and Integration Processes” was held at the Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University on November 3 rd and 4 th . Director of the Diplomatic School of the MFA of the Republic Armenia, Ambassador Gabrielyan participated in the forum, addressing it with opening remarks at the official opening ceremony and taking part in its “Social sciences in the context of contemporary challenges” round table.

18.10.2016 • International Dialogue in Science and Technology Advice to Foreign Ministries

The Director of the Diplomatic School of Armenia, Ambassador Gabrielyan took part in the International Dialogue on Science and Technology Advice to Foreign Ministries, which took place in Laxenburg, Austria, from October 17 th to 19 th . The forum was co-organised by The Fletcher Institute of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, IIASA – International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis and the International Network of Government Science Advice. This was the first such meeting, aimed at increasing the role of advice on science and technology at the ministries of foreign affairs. Representatives of 21 countries participated in the dialogue.      

30.09.2016 • Launching the Russian language course at the Diplomatic School

  On September 30 th , Russian language course was launched at the Diplomatic School of Armenia in the scope of the “International Relations and Diplomacy” programme. As in earlier years, the course is implemented in cooperation with the “Rossotrudnechestvo” federal agency of the Russian Federation. Vahe Gabrielyan, the director of the Diplomatic School of Armenia, Mark Kalinin, the director of the “Rossotrudnechestvo” federal agency and Natalya Yeremenko, the head of Russian language department discussed the possibilities of further enhancement of cooperation between the two institutions.

26.09.2016 • The 43rd annual International Forum on Diplomatic Training

From the 20th to the 23th of September, the Director of the Diplomatic School of Armenia, Ambassador Vahe Gabrielyan participated in the 43rd meeting of Deans and Directors of Diplomatic Academies and Institutes of International Relations (known as IFDT, International Forum on Diplomatic Training), hosted in Canberra, Australia by the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy, Australian National University. The forum was attended by representatives of more than 50 diplomatic academies from all continents that came to Canberra to discuss new trends and challenges in educating future diplomats.  Diplomacy in a non-polar world and cross-regional perspectives, ASEAN diplomacy, global governance and Small Island Diplomacy were the main topics of the Forum.  “The New Pacific Diplomacy”, a new book on the challenges and opportunities for diplomacy of the wider region, was launched on the margins of the forum.
